IT’S NOT OVER.

To my wonderful readers,

I spent most of November 9th feeling dark. I was fearful, disappointed and angry. I couldn’t sleep, and had this pit in my stomach that felt a million times bigger than myself. And as I woke up yesterday morning, one of my worst fears for the world had happened.

Even though I’m a born-and-raised Canadian, I know that this lunacy will not be contained within the borders of the United States. This affects the world. This affects how young children see what it means – and what it takes – to be one of the most powerful leaders. This deeply affects my generation. This deeply hurts LGBTQ, women, black people and hispanic people.

Scrolling through my Facebook posts yesterday was a never ending circle. I wanted to look, but at the same time, I knew that it probably wasn’t the best thing to do, feeling still so hopeless. Most of what I read made me feel even more despair. And it’s okay. The wound is still fresh and people are angry. I feel it too.

But after having a few very meaningful conversations with other people who were in the same boat as me, I’m more compelled than EVER before to step up and take action for what I believe in. We have to fight for climate change, love, acceptance and rights for groups that are at risk of losing them. We cannot be complacent, and as my aunt was telling me – every little bit counts. I’m already thinking of my plan to help make a better world and support these communities, and I’m hoping to inspire others to do the same.

So to anyone who is reading this and wants to talk, I am more than willing. I want to make a difference, but I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to do that yet. I want to learn more, so please let me know your thoughts. I want to listen.

During my social media browsing yesterday, I was constantly searching for that glimmer of hope – for someone to tell me that this it’s all going to be okay. Although I can’t predict what will happen in the next four years, just remember that hope, love and light comes from within. We have the power to create a better, more loving world for the years to come, and put the racists, sexists and bigots in their place. And with that, in the midst of the fear (that’s spreading like wildfire on the internet right now), I wanted to use my lil’ website to share with you some of the the most uplifting quotes and articles that are challenging me to take action myself.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and a ton to fight for: but I know we can do it. As Hillary Clinton said, the worst thing for us is to become cynical and lose hope. So let’s honour her and come back stronger than ever.
We WILL rise.
