Hi everyone! This post was originally supposed to be a halloween tutorial. However, I had to give it the axe because it wouldn’t have taught much… It was a lot of trial and error – even for someone who loves to draw (me). My brother approached me with this skeleton costume idea, and I was all for it! The power of makeup truly can keep your costume under your budget, especially because I ended up wearing a plain black dress and heels with it. If I had a bit more time, I would have extended the makeup down to my arms and neck.
Dress: Zara, Heels: Hugo Boss
The white face paint was a little bit temperamental, but it all worked out in the end. Tip: blow dry your face on cold between layers. It helps the colours stay separate when they are more dry. This is definitely not a look for the impatient.
After searching for a lot of inspiration on Pinterest, we actually ended up mostly following Katherine Elizabeth’s skull makeup tutorial. We also worked a bit of the white paint into Mattie’s hair, which also gave a “spoooooo00ky” effect haha. I actually woke up at 7am this morning to help Matthew recreate the same look for him to Halloween at school!
Love Always, Rachel
